Biography (full CV)
Chunhai Fan obtained his B.S. and Ph.D. from the Department of Biochemistry at Nanjing University in 1996 and 2000. After his postdoctoral research at University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), he joined the faculty at Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics (SINAP), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 2004, where he holds a position of CAS Distinguished Professor at SINAP. Since 2018, he is a SJTU K. C. Wong Chair Professor in the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). Currently, he is the dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, executive dean of the Institute of Translational Medicine, chief scientist of the National Center for Translational Medicine, and director of the Shanghai Key Laboratory of Nucleic Acid Chemistry and Nanomedicine.
Dr. Fan is a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS academician), a fellow of American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), American Institute of Medical and biological Engineering (AIMBE) and International Society of Electrochemistry (ISE). He is an Associate Editor of ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, serves as a Co-Chair on the editorial board of ChemPlusChem and an editorial board member of over 10 journals including Angewadte Chemie, Accounts of Chemical Research and ACS Nano. Dr. Fan has published more than 500 papers in peer-reviewed journals (with ~50, 000 citations and H-index >110), and was recognized as Highly Cited Researchers by Clarivate Analytics. His work has been recognized by many awards including National Natural Science Prize of China (2016), National Award for Young Scientists of China (2011), The Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Prize for Scientific and Technological Innovation (2019), Advances in Measurement Science Lectureship Award in American Chemical Society (2019), WuXi AppTech Life Science and Chemistry Award (2020) and JNB Trailblazer (2021).
